Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a versatile and widely used engineering material known for its excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. It is commonly used in applications requiring long service life, resistance to harsh environments, and reliable mechanical performance.

Stainless steels are categorized into several groups, including austenitic (e.g., 304, 316), martensitic (e.g., 420), and precipitation-hardening grades (e.g., 17-4PH), each offering distinct mechanical and chemical properties.

Due to its strength and resistance to corrosion, stainless steel is suitable for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and precision manufacturing of complex components.

At Modo Rapid, we provide high-precision stainless steel machining services, ensuring tight tolerances, excellent surface finish, and consistent quality for demanding applications.

Material Comparison

Different stainless steel grades are designed for specific applications and performance requirements.

Austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316 offer excellent corrosion resistance and are widely used in general industrial, food-grade, and medical applications. 316 provides improved corrosion resistance, especially in marine or chemical environments.

Free-machining grades such as 303 are optimized for CNC machining and offer improved machinability, making them ideal for high-volume precision parts.

Precipitation-hardening stainless steels such as 17-4PH provide higher strength and hardness compared to standard austenitic grades, making them suitable for aerospace and high-performance applications.

Compared to aluminum, stainless steel offers higher strength and wear resistance but is heavier and more difficult to machine. Compared to carbon steel, stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance without the need for additional coatings.
